In Chicago, the Orioles kept finding ways to win, edging the White Sox 8-7 in a back-and-forth game. Dylan Beavers starred with a triple, a homer, and three RBI, while top prospect Samuel Basallo showed off his power with a no-doubt two-run shot. Gunnar Henderson and Coby Mayo chipped in with three hits apiece, and Keegan Akin locked down the ninth for his sixth save. Baltimore is now 5-0 against Chicago this season and has won seven straight at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Meanwhile in Detroit, our Tigers play came up short thanks to a Guardians offense that refused to quit. After Kerry Carpenter tied the game with a ninth-inning blast, Cleveland exploded in the 10th with four straight extra-base hits - something the franchise hadn’t done in extras since 1961. José Ramírez, Steven Kwan, and Kyle Manzardo all doubled, Angel Martinez tripled, and the Guardians rolled to their 10th win in the last 11 games. Spencer Torkelson’s two-run shot in the bottom half made it interesting, but it wasn’t enough to stop Cleveland’s September surge.

1977: The Ryder Cup golf event concluded at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lancashire, England, with the United States defeating Great Britain and Ireland 12½-7½; this was the last Ryder Cup for a GB&I team before Europe joined.
