Despite both teams having opportunities to score, the combined total of 7 runs fell just short of the 7.5-run over, resulting in a loss for this selection. Corbin Burnes secured his first win for Arizona, while pinch-hitter Geraldo Perdomo delivered a crucial two-run single in the seventh inning. The Mets mounted a late rally, scoring twice in the ninth, but ultimately couldn't overcome the deficit.

The Detroit Tigers staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 10–4. Trailing 4–2 entering the eighth inning, the Tigers erupted for five runs, highlighted by Dillon Dingler's three-run homer. They added three more runs in the ninth to seal the victory. The momentum has clearly swung toward high-scoring affairs in the first round of the NBA playoffs, with two more overs cashing on Thursday and pushing the recent trend to 11-4 in favor of the over.
