Sports Corner Daily’s Results Weekend Recap
We had another split day yesterday on our free plays thanks to the Cardinals losing to the Dodgers, but that was our only loss for yesterday. We went 4-1 overall for a nice gain of 3 units to end the weekend off strong. Let's see if we can follow that up and keep some momentum going!
Let’s quickly recap our Free Plays from over the weekend, starting on Friday where the Florida Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 in double overtime in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, evening the series at 1-1. Florida stormed back after trailing 3-2 in the first period, with Dmitry Kulikov flipping the momentum in the second. Corey Perry forced OT with a late goal for Edmonton, but Brad Marchand sealed it 8:05 into the second extra session- his second goal of the night - completing a thrilling double-OT victory. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky made 42 saves, and Sam Bennett contributed by scoring his playoff-leading 13th goal. The win proves how tightly contested this Final has been, setting the stage for a Game 3 showdown in Florida.
On Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers walked off the San Diego Padres 4–3 thanks to rookie Caleb Durbin’s solo home run in the bottom of the ninth. Luis Arraez tied the game earlier in the inning with a clutch two-out RBI double. In New York, the Boston Red Sox outslugged the Yankees 10–7 behind Trevor Story’s 5-RBI night, part of a powerful offensive showing that gave them control of the series.
Finally, on Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers salvaged the final game of their series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a 7–3 win. Clayton Kershaw earned his first victory of the season, giving up just one run over five innings while striking out seven. Mookie Betts added a key home run, and the Dodgers offense jumped on St. Louis early to take control. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder responded to their Game 1 loss with a commanding 123–107 win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 34 points, and the Thunder used a dominant third quarter to pull away, evening the series at 1–1.

Cubs to win
Analysis:
The Philadelphia Phillies are currently experiencing a significant slump, managing only one win in their last ten games and currently on a five-game losing streak, which severely diminishes any notion that home-field advantage alone could sway the outcome in their favor. Teams in such a downturn typically face one of two outcomes: a continued slide or a quick turnaround—given their recent struggles, the former seems more likely unless they can significantly improve their form. Conversely, the Chicago Cubs enter this matchup with a potent offensive arsenal, ranking second in MLB in runs scored with 363 and fifth in home runs with 88, highlighting their power-hitting ability. They also boast a robust .259 batting average, one of the league's best, indicating that their offensive consistency is a key strength. Brewers to win
Analysis:
The Braves have been awful lately losing seven straight and 8 of their last 10 games. The Brewers offensive output remains respectable, ranking 11th in MLB with 292 runs this season and demonstrating power with 59 home runs, which means they can deliver runs when it counts. Additionally, their pitching staff maintains a solid ERA of 3.83, placing them 14th in the league, indicating a reliable defense that can keep runs in check. The team’s strikeout rate of 8.3 per game, ranked 15th, shows they have the ability to neutralize opposing…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
