Sports Corner Daily’s Results Yesterday’s Recap
Let’s recap our two games from yesterday, starting in the NBA where the Oklahoma City Thunder surged past the Indiana Pacers 120–109 to take a commanding 3–2 lead in the NBA Finals. Jalen Williams exploded for a playoff career-high 40 points, while MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 31 points and 10 assists. Despite an 18-point deficit in the second quarter and a spirited comeback led by Pascal Siakam (28 points) and T.J. McConnell (18 off the bench), Indiana couldn’t close the gap. Tyrese Haliburton was hampered by a calf injury, going just 0-for-6 with only four points. The Thunder capitalized on Indiana’s 23 turnovers, converting them into 32 points, showing defensive discipline and clutch offensive execution down the stretch. With history on their side—teams leading 3–2 in the Finals win 82% of the time—OKC is now just one win away from their first NBA title.
In the MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies continued their dominant run, defeating the Miami Marlins 5–2 to extend their winning streak to five games. Leadoff hitter Trea Turner struck early with a homer, finishing with three hits, while Max Kepler added a solo shot in the fourth. Rookie Mick Abel earned his second win, tossing five strong innings and allowing just two runs before a perfect ninth inning from Orion Kerkering sealed the deal. Alec Bohm contributed the insurance runs with a two-run single in the ninth. Miami rallied briefly on an RBI single from Connor Norby and a sacrifice fly by Agustín Ramírez, but couldn’t spark a comeback against Philadelphia’s balanced attack.

Analysis:
Casey Mize ranks among the top six in MLB with a 1.35 ERA during the first five innings of home games, demonstrating his strong early performance on his home turf. The Tigers' offense is particularly effective against left-handed pitchers, boasting a solid OPS of .273/.345/.453 at home, which reflects their ability to hit and draw walks against LHP. Meanwhile, Bailey Falter tends to surrender too many flyballs, increasing the risk of home runs, and struggles to generate swings and misses, limiting his ability to strike out batters and keep the game in control. The Pirates' lineup is relatively tepid and unlikely…Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...

Analysis:
Minnesota’s starting pitcher today, David Festa, has been somewhat inconsistent this season, with five starts resulting in a 4.76 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. He struggles to command the strike zone, evidenced by his 9.3% walk rate, and relies more on ground balls at just 31.1%, which makes him vulnerable to power hitters since he also allows 1.59 home runs per nine innings. On the other hand, Abbott has been dominant over 11 starts, posting an ERA of 1.87, a 0.97 WHIP, and striking out 26.1% of batters while walking only 8.2%. He’s shown excellent control and has been resistant to giving up long balls, with just 0.86 home runs per nine innings. Minnesota’s offense has been struggling on the road, batting just .234, and their bullpen has been lousy lately with an ERA of 8.18 over the past six games. Conversely, Cincinnati has been…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
