Sports Corner Daily’s Results and Yesterday’s Recap
Lets recap our two selections from yesterday, where The Miami Marlins snapped a long skid and defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 3–2 at PNC Park. Cy Young winner Sandy Alcántara delivered a statement performance, going six shutout innings with six strikeouts for his first win since April 12. Nick Fortes provided the critical offense with a two-run homer in the third, while Eric Wagaman’s RBI single in the fourth added insurance . The Pirates mounted a late threat with solo homers from Ke’Bryan Hayes and Oneil Cruz, but Miami’s closer Calvin Faucher slammed the door in the ninth despite a nail-biting two-on jam.
In Baltimore, the Detroit Tigers secured a 5–3 win behind a rare two-out combined cycle in the fifth inning. Starter Brant Hurter opened with 2⅔ solid innings, and reliever Sawyer Gipson‑Long followed with 4⅔ innings of one-run ball, striking out five. Offensively, Spencer Torkelson crushed solo longballs (his 16th of the season), while Zach McKinstry hit two triples, adding dynamism to the rally. The Tigers improved to 44–24—best record in MLB—and extended their dominance over Baltimore to a 4–0 season series

Analysis:
Both teams love to push the pace—Indiana leads all playoff teams in tempo, and OKC isn’t far behind. Game 2 featured a fast-flowing offensive rhythm, and both teams combined for 230 points, sailing over the posted total. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains the key offensive engine for the Thunder, putting up 34 points in Game 2 while getting to the line 12 times — a sign that he’s staying aggressive and drawing fouls in key moments.
