Let’s recap our selections from yesterday, starting on the road in Kansas City, where the Royals cruised past the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-3. Rookie Noah Cameron tossed seven strong innings- allowing just two earned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Offensively, Bobby Witt Jr., Salvador Perez, and Vinnie Pasquantino all homered, combining for four of the Royals’ runs. Pittsburgh scored early on a Tommy Pham homer, but Kansas City responded emphatically, extending their win streak and capitalizing on Pittsburgh’s continuing road struggles.
In Anaheim, the Los Angeles Angels pulled off a thrilling walk-off victory over the Texas Rangers, winning 6-5. Travis d’Arnaud provided key early offense with a two-run homer in the second inning and finished with three RBIs. The Rangers initially led after Corey Seager’s homer and got back even in the eighth on Josh Smith’s RBI double. But in the bottom of the ninth, Nolan Schanuel drew a bases-loaded walk off Hoby Milner, scoring the decisive run- capping a comeback win in front of the home crowd.
