Sports Corner Daily’s Results Yesterday’s Recap
OK. Football season is right around the corner. That means Fantasy Football is too! If you are anything like us, you have started your research on who to take for the upcoming season. We wanted to make sure you were prepared and also had some of the best tools and websites to help you select your team. We have many tools that we will share with you over the coming weeks but wanted to start with one today - some sleepers on this list. Take a look at some of these BOLD PREDICTIONS for our upcoming 2025 season. Check it out here ➡ Five Bold Predictions for the 2025 Season.
Let’s dive into yesterday's WNBA plays where we split the day going 1-1, starting in New York where The Liberty pulled away early and never looked back in a convincing 98-77 win over the Fever. Breanna Stewart led the charge with 24 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 blocks- marking one of the most complete performances seen since Candace Parker’s heyday storm. Sabrina Ionescu added 15 points and 9 assists, while Natasha Cloud chipped in 14. Indiana struggled without Caitlin Clark (ruled out due to a groin injury), shooting just 36.8% for the game. The Liberty jumped to a 32-24 lead after one quarter and never looked back, dominating from wire to wire. We lost this play.
The Storm edged out Golden State 67- 58 in a defensive-minded affair. Nneka Ogwumike dropped 22 points- with 11 coming in the fourth quarter- and moved past Candice Dupree into sixth on the WNBA all-time scoring list. Erica Wheeler contributed 15 points (including clutch threes), and Skylar Diggins added 10. The Valkyries were held to a season-low 31.7% shooting (just 24.2% in the second half) and dropped their third straight and fifth in six games. We hit this one!
Not a lot of action today but there is a CFL play we like. We will be back on track with some baseball tomorrow!

Analysis:
The season opener between these teams ended with just 38 points, resulting in a 28-10 victory for Montreal. Since then, the Argonauts’ offense has improved and will be strengthened by the return of their starting running back. Meanwhile, the Alouettes are getting their quarterback back from injury; with him in the lineup, they were performing strongly earlier in the season. Toronto’s defense recently conceded 51 points in their last game, a 51-38 defeat to Hamilton. This season, Toronto has allowed 28 or more points in four of their five games. Montreal has also allowed at least 28 points in two of their last three contests. Prior to Week 1, the previous five matchups all ended with at least 50 points, and last season’s three games each finished with a minimum of 55. A high-scoring shootout is widely anticipated.
