The Kraken dominated the second period in this matchup, scoring 4 unanswered goals in the period, 2 of them coming within seconds of each other. Defender Brandon Montour led the Kraken with 2 goals in the game. Both teams have been struggling this season but the Kraken improve to 23-27-3. 

In some college basketball action the Nebraska Cornhuskers defeated the #18 Illinois Fighting Illini 80-74 in overtime. The Cornhuskers started out hot, leading by ten at one point in the first half and took a 9 point lead to the halftime break. Illinois fought back in the second and got the game to overtime but could never get over the hump to take the lead. Nebraska outscored Illinois 10-4 in overtime. It was a big win for Nebraska who improve to 13-8 overall but are just 3-7 in Big10 conference play. 

In our final selection yesterday, South Dakota State and North Dakota State played a much slower paced game than anticipated with South Dakota State winning 72-62. Both teams struggled to get their offense flowing like we have seen this season, with both teams having poor performances shooting 3’s last night. South Dakota State was led by Center Oscar Cluff who had a monster performance with 23 points and 15 rebounds.
