Sports Corner Daily’s 👀 Results from 01/16/2025
Last night Sports Corner Daily went 1-2 in our picks. Starting in some college basketball action, our parlay lost on the first leg as the Michigan Wolverines were upset by the Minnesota Golden Gophers 84-81 in overtime. Michigan was in a good spot up 10 with about 12 minutes to play but let Minnesota come storming back and briefly take the lead before the game went to overtime. Minnesota guard Dawson Garcia hit a three as overtime time expired to win the game.
In some hockey action last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the New Jersey Devils in overtime 4-3. New Jersey led for much of the game and our moneyline pick on NJ looked to be in a good spot. Unfortunately the Devils allowed the Leafs to score late in the third period to tie it up and head to overtime where Toronto got a goal by forward William Nylander to seal the victory. The Maple Leafs improve to 28-16-2 and sit at the top of the eastern conference’s Atlantic division. In our other hockey selection of the night, the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1, hitting our ML pick on Columbus. The San Jose Sharks have had a rough season, falling to 14-27-6 and are currently in last place in the Western Conference’s Pacific division. Forward James van Riemsdyk scored two goals for the Blue Jackets in the win.

Today's LIVE Bets:
NHL: Vegas Golden Knights @ Carolina Hurricanes - 7:00pm ET
Carolina to win
Analysis:
The Hurricanes have been dominant at home, boasting a 14-4-1 record at PNC Arena, and their defense remains one of the league’s best, allowing just 2.6 goals per game, the fourth-lowest in the NHL. Carolina’s penalty kill has been exceptional, ranking second in the league at 85.9%, which will be critical against a Vegas power play converting at 23.3%. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights have cooled off recently, losing four of their last six games and struggling offensively, scoring just 2.5 goals per game during that stretch. Carolina’s balanced attack, led by [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NCAAB: Iowa Hawkeyes @ UCLA Bruins - 9:00pm ET
Iowa +7
Analysis:
Iowa’s offense, which ranks 12th nationally, averages 81.4 points per game, powered by Keegan Murray (20.2 PPG, 8.7 RPG) and a deep roster that excels at creating and converting scoring opportunities. The Hawkeyes shoot an efficient 47.8% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc, making them a consistent offensive threat. UCLA, while formidable at home, has shown defensive lapses recently, allowing opponents to score 70+ points in four of their last six games. The Bruins' defense allows 65.2 points per game, but their struggles against high-paced offenses like Iowa's could make this a closer game than the spread suggests. Offensively, UCLA averages 74.3 points per game, led by Jaime Jaquez Jr. (16.8 PPG) and Tyger Campbell (14.5 PPG), but has occasionally struggled [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NCAAB: Air Force Falcons @ Fresno St. Bulldogs - 10:00pm ET
Fresno St -3
Analysis:
The Bulldogs have been solid defensively, allowing just 64.8 points per game, which ranks among the top in the conference. At home, Fresno State has shown resilience, holding opponents to 60.5 points on average. Air Force, while competitive, struggles on the road with a 1-5 record and averages only 65.2 points per game in away games. Offensively, the Bulldogs lean on forward Isaiah Hill, who averages 15.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, to lead [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
