OK… Let's dig in. Sports Corner Daily had a tough weekend with our selections, going 2-6 overall. Starting on Friday, we saw Ohio State beat the Texas Longhorns 28-14 and secure their ticket to the championship game against Norte Dame. Ohio State looked dominant at times in this game but ultimately the game came down to a 83 yard fumble recovery and score late in the fourth quarter by Ohio State linebacker Jack Sawyer. That score put Ohio State up 2 touchdowns with about 2 minutes remaining. We will see the Buckeyes and Irish duel it out next Monday night for the championship.
In some college basketball action Friday night we saw Maryland defeat #22 UCLA 79-61, hitting our Maryland -5 selection. It was an impressive win for Maryland, who dominated the second half, out-scoring UCLA 39-25. Maryland was led by Ja’Kobi Gillespie who had 27 points for the Terrapins who improved to 12-4 overall on the season.
Over the weekend we saw the start of the NFL playoffs with action on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday we saw the Chargers get destroyed by the Texans 32-12. The Chargers started off looking like they would be in the game, but were outscored 20-0 in the second and third quarters. Chargers QB Justin Herbert was under constant pressure which led to 4 interceptions. The Texans move on and will play Kansas City next. The night game on Saturday saw the Baltimore Ravens beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14. The Ravens had huge success running the ball in this game, with RB Derrick Henry rushing for 186 yards and QB Lamar Jackson chipping in another 81 yards on the ground. The Ravens move on and will have a matchup with the Buffalo Bills next weekend.
On Sunday, we saw 3 more NFL playoff games, with the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos kicking off the action. This game wasn’t particularly close with Buffalo cruising to a 31-7 win. Denver scored on their first possession, moving the ball right down the field for a touchdown. That was all Denver did on offense for the most part, with Buffalo scoring 31 points unanswered after that. It was a balanced attack for Buffalo, who saw RB James Cook rush for 120 yards but also had QB Josh Allen throw for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns. Buffalo has a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens next. In the Sunday night game, we saw the Washington Commanders pull off the upset over the Tampa Bay Bucs, winning 23-20 on a last second field goal. Both defenses showed up in this one, as we saw both offenses struggle at times in this game. Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels was able to stay calm and march the team down the field in the end to set up the game winning kick. Washington moves on and will head up to Detroit to take on the Lions next weekend.
Looking forward to today, we have 3 picks for you. Be sure to check out The Full Details and What the Public Thinks on these bets before jumping in. Let’s win some money!
Today's LIVE Bets:
NCAAB: Minnesota Golden Gophers @ Maryland Terrapins - 6:30pm ET
Over 138.5
Analysis:
The Maryland Terrapins thrive in high-paced, high-scoring games, particularly at home, where their up-tempo style has been dominant. They recently dropped 80 points on UCLA, a team known for slowing the pace, and achieved this without much offensive contribution from standout freshman Derik Queen. The Terps are likely to approach 90 points in this game, especially given their track record of 15 straight games surpassing the total and going 9-4 to the over in their last 13. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Golden Gophers have gone over the total in six of their last eight games, with seven of those hitting this projected total. A game in the 140s seems likely, as Maryland will push the pace to secure a win ahead of tough road [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NBA: Golden State Warriors @ Toronto Raptors - 7:30pm ET
Golden State -4.5
Analysis:
The Raptors, with an 8-31 record and currently 14th in the Eastern Conference, are on a five-game losing streak, allowing an average of 115.2 points per game during this stretch. Meanwhile, the Warriors, sitting at 19-19, have shown resilience despite recent ups and downs, including a 107-104 victory over Detroit in their last outing. Led by Stephen Curry, who averages 31.4 points per game, Golden State’s potent offense is poised to exploit Toronto’s [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
NHL: LA Kings @ Edmonton Oilers - 9:30pm ET
Edmonton to Win
Analysis:
Tonight’s NHL matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place features two in-form teams, with the Kings holding a .777 win percentage and the Oilers at .775 since late November. The Kings recently defeated the Oilers 4-3 in overtime on December 28, fueled by Quinton Byfield’s two goals and an assist, extending his five-game point streak against Edmonton. However, the Oilers have dominated at home, winning their last three matchups against the Kings at Rogers Place, where Los Angeles holds a poor 3-11-1 record since 2016-17. Special teams could be a deciding factor, with Edmonton’s power play at 21.6% and the Kings showing strong penalty-kill improvement, allowing just one power-play [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
