Sports Corner Daily’s 👀 Results from 12/27/2024-12/29/2004
Sports Corner Daily had a successful weekend going 6-3-1 on our selections. Starting in college football on Friday we saw Navy come back to take down Oklahoma. Navy couldn't get anything going in the first half, but hung tough and came back to take the lead in the 4th quarter. Oklahoma had a chance to tie the game at the very end but attempted a 2 point conversion to win the game out right and failed, giving Navy the win. Up next we saw Arkansas and Texas Tech score a bunch of points, hitting our over easily. It wasn't the closest game in the world, with Arkansas taking a 21-3 after the first quarter, but it was nice to see so many points early in the game.
In some NFL action, the Bengals continue to find ways to win and keep their playoff hopes alive. This time they needed overtime to beat the Broncos 30-24. Joe Burrow threw for a whooping 412 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win. The Bengals still need some help to sneak into the playoffs but some chance is better than no chance. In the game last night, it was a battle of 2 rookie QB’s. The Falcons started off hot and had a 17-7 lead at half, fueled by 2 touchdowns from running back Bijan Robinson. The Commanders got going in the second half and took a 24-17 lead in the 4th quarter, seemingly ready to put the game away. But rookie QB Michael Penix Jr responded and took the Falcons on a game tying touchdown drive late in the game and to overtime we went. In overtime the Commanders got the ball first and never gave the Falcons a chance, driving all the way down the field and hitting tight end Zach Ertz for a touchdown, ending the game and hitting our -3.5 pick on the Commanders. The Commanders improved to 11-5 and secured a playoff spot. The Falcons are still alive in the playoff race as well, but will need some help to get there.
Looking ahead to today, we have 2 football picks for you. Hoping to keep the winning going! Click the image below for the full results from the weekend and our full track record.
Today's LIVE Bets:
NFL: Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers - 8:15pm ET
Detroit -3
Analysis:
The 49ers have been eliminated from playoff contention and are dealing with injuries, while the Lions are still vying for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Lions head coach Dan Campbell has stated that they won’t rest players before their Week 18 game against the Vikings, which makes the current betting line seem a bit low. The 49ers are now shutting down several players, with three offensive linemen, including Trent Williams, out for the season, and Dre Greenlaw may join them. Despite the Lions’ weakened defensive line, they should hold their own against the 49ers. The public bets are coming in heavy in favor of the Lions to cover here with 90% of the bets on Detroit. We are going an extra unit on this one.
NCAAF: Iowa Hawkeyes @ Missouri Tigers - 2:30pm ET
Missouri -2.5
Analysis:
Iowa is facing a tough situation without key players, as star running back Kaleb Johnson (1,537 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns) is opting out of the Music City Bowl. The Hawkeyes are also missing quarterback Cade McNamara, but backup Brendan Sullivan, who was sidelined for the season finale against Nebraska, has been cleared to play. However, it’s worth noting that Iowa's quarterbacks only managed nine touchdown passes throughout the season. Missouri, on the other hand, will be without standout wide receiver Luther Burden, but quarterback Brady Cook is set to make his fourth bowl appearance and boasts a 26-13 career record. Iowa has struggled offensively in recent years, and it’s important to remember how the Tigers physically dominated Ohio State, a stronger Big Ten team, in last year’s Cotton Bowl. The public also likes the Tigers on this one with 59% of the public bets on Missouri to cover.
