Sports Corner Daily’s Results and Yesterday’s Recap

We split the day going 1-1 yesterday breaking even on our plays. Check out a quick recap of our FREE plays from yesterday. ⤵️

Thursday 08/21/2025: 0 Units - Break even

MLB: Astros to win - 1 Unit (-110) - WIN - +1 unit

MLB: Rays to win - 1 Unit (+100) - Lost - -1 unit

Taking a closer look at our selections from yesterday, the St. Louis Cardinals kicked off their series in Tampa with a 7-4 win over the Rays, fueled by a huge five-run second inning. Alec Burleson delivered a two-run single, while Nathan Church and Lars Nootbaar added run-scoring hits, including an RBI double from Nootbaar- who’s now on a five-game multi-hit streak. Willson Contreras later extended the lead with his 18th homer of the season. Sonny Gray took the mound for St. Louis, allowing just three runs over five innings and striking out six, and the bullpen highlighted by JoJo Romero shut down any rally for the home team.

In Baltimore, the Houston Astros snapped a four-game skid with a commanding 7-2 win over the Orioles. Christian Walker and Yainer Díaz each homered, while Jesús Sánchez broke out of a prolonged slump with a career night: 5-for-5 including a double and four singles. Jason Alexander was strong on the mound, delivering 5 1⁄3 innings of two-run ball to earn the win. Baltimore's rookie Brandon Young, who recently flirted with a perfect game, struggled yielding seven runs before exiting early and leaving following a hamstring injury scare.

Mets to win

Analysis:

The Mets might have stumbled in Washington, but they head into Atlanta with a chance to reset and I like their position in Friday’s matchup. Rookie right-hander Nolan McLean will be making just his second big-league start, but his debut showed plenty of promise. Against Seattle, he held the Mariners scoreless across 5 1/3 innings, allowing only two hits while keeping traffic on the bases to a minimum in a 3-1 Mets win. Now, he gets a Braves lineup that, surprisingly, has failed to find its usual firepower this season. Over the past week, Atlanta has ranked middle of the pack in most…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...

MLB: LA Dodgers vs SD Padres  - 1 Unit (-120) - 9:40pm ET

Dodgers to win

Analysis:

Blake Snell takes the mound for the Dodgers, and although he’s only made five starts this season, he’s been effective with a 1.80 ERA, keeping the ball in the park and limiting damage despite a higher WHIP of 1.44 and some control issues with nearly 12 percent walks. On the other side, Yu Darvish starts for the Padres, but his season has been far shakier, with an ERA of 5.97 through eight starts, driven largely by a long-ball problem as he’s allowed almost one and a half homers per nine innings, though his WHIP of 1.22 suggests he’s had some tough breaks.
