Sports Corner Daily’s Results Yesterday’s Recap

Rough day for us yesterday. The Blue Jays left their bats at home and the Brewers got swept by the Cubs making it 3 straight losses after putting on a clinic winning 14 straight. I guess Chicago has their number this year as they lead the series 7-5. Check out a quick recap of our FREE plays from yesterday. ⤵️

Wednesday 08/20/2025: -2.15 Units

MLB: Blue Jays -1.5 - 1 Unit (+105) - Lost - -1 unit

MLB: Brewers to win - 1 Unit (-115) - Lost - -1.15 unit

Starting our recap off in Pittsburgh where Johan Oviedo earned his first major league win since 2023, delivering five solid innings with six strikeouts while allowing just one run on two hits, navigating past a leadoff homer by George Springer. It was veteran Tommy Pham who delivered the game-winning blow for Pittsburgh, lacing a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning to put the Pirates ahead for good. The Pirates’ bullpen locked it down from there, staking the team to a 2–1 series-clinching victory.

Next, In a tightly contested matchup at Wrigley Field, Michael Busch emerged as the hero, drilling a three-run double off Jacob Misiorowski in the third inning to put the Cubs ahead. Misiorowski struggled with control, walking three straight batters before Busch's big hit- and that proved to be the difference despite Milwaukee getting more hits overall. Brice Turang went 3-for-3 for the Brewers, but they couldn't convert with runners in scoring position, going 1-for-7 in those situations. Chicago’s bullpen held strong, with Matt Shaw adding a solo homer in the eighth and Daniel Palencia securing his 18th save to complete the comeback. It was Chicago’s third straight win and their sixth in seven games, while Milwaukee’s division lead trimmed to six games.

Astros to win

Analysis:

The Orioles may have taken two of three from the Astros in Houston last week, but now the scene shifts to Baltimore for a four-game series, and Houston looks ready to respond. Veteran right-hander Jason Alexander gets the ball for the Astros, and since being claimed off waivers from Oakland in May, he’s been a reliable arm in the back end of the rotation. In seven outings (six starts), Alexander has posted a 3-1 record with a 2.63 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 37 2/3 innings, allowing just 28 hits while striking out 30. He was also on the mound in Houston’s lone win against Baltimore in their previous series, delivering a steady five innings before the bullpen closed out a 12-inning victory. Importantly, Alexander has been at his best on the road, where all three of his wins have…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...

MLB: SL Cardinals vs TB Rays  - 1 Unit (+100) - 7:35pm ET

Rays to win

Analysis:

Sonny Gray still carries name value in the betting market, but his recent results have been concerning. He was hit hard in his last outing, giving up six runs on nine hits in five innings against the Yankees, and he has failed to pitch beyond the fifth inning in six of his last eight starts. Even more troubling is the long ball, as he has surrendered home runs in six consecutive appearances, nine in total, and pitching in a hitter-friendly park makes that an even greater risk. Tampa Bay counters with Joe Boyle, who has had ups and downs of his own but still shows promise. His 5.26 FIP suggests some struggles, yet his 1.19 WHIP over 32 2/3 innings points to better underlying control, and the Rays managed to rally for a win in his last start against San Francisco. St. Louis could be a favorable opponent for him since their offense ranks only 23rd in isolated power over…[Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
