Sports Corner Daily’s Results and Yesterday’s Recap
Not the day we wanted yesterday as we lost on both of our FREE plays. However, it’s a new month. Let’s start with a bang today. Below is a quick recap of yesterday's plays.
❌ MLB: Rays to win - 1 Unit (-125) - LOST - -1.05 units
❌ MLB: Reds -1.5 - 1 Unit (+115) - LOST - -1 unit
Lets get into our recap from yesterday, where the Atlanta Braves edged the Cincinnati Reds 12-11 in 10 innings. Rookie catcher Marcel Ozuna delivered the walk-off sacrifice fly to score Matt Olson, completing one of the wildest comebacks of the season. Atlanta erased a 3-3 tie with eight runs in the top of the 8th- but Cincinnati responded with eight runs of their own in the bottom half, highlighted by three-run homers from Ke’Bryan Hayes and Spencer Steer, and a solo shot from Elly De La Cruz. Ozzie Albies had four hits and two RBIs for the Braves in the marathon, which featured 12 pitchers and 30 hits total.
Up next at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees took advantage of trade‑deadline drama to pull off a 7-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays and claim the series. Giancarlo Stanton crushed a two-run homer in the first inning, and newcomer Ben Rice followed with a three-run shot in the second for a quick 6-0 lead. Starter Marcus Stroman allowed four runs over five innings while the Yankees overhauled their bullpen mid-game with trades including David Bednar, Jake Bird, and Camilo Doval. The Rays chipped away with four runs in the fourth, capped by Jonathan Aranda, Junior Caminero, and Taylor Walls, but bullpen trade acquisition Jonathan Loáisiga sealed the win for New York after a lengthy rain delay.
