Sports Corner Daily’s Results and Yesterday’s Recap

Let's get into our recap from last night, starting in the MLB where the Washington Nationals fell short in a 2–1 loss to the Baltimore Orioles at Nationals Park, failing to cash our moneyline play. Washington struck first with an early run, but the offense couldn’t muster much more, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Nationals starter MacKenzie Gore pitched well with eight strikeouts over six innings, but Baltimore’s Cade Povich delivered his best outing of the season, limiting the Nats to just one run through 6⅔ innings. RBI singles from Ryan O’Hearn and Cedric Mullins in the fifth inning gave the Orioles just enough offense, while the bullpen handled the rest to seal the win.

In NBA playoff action, the Oklahoma City Thunder failed to cover the -9.5 spread in dramatic fashion, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 114–108 to take a 3–0 series lead. The Thunder trailed by as many as 29 points before launching one of the largest comebacks in recent postseason history. Chet Holmgren fueled the rally with 23 of his 24 points in the second half, while Jalen Williams added timely buckets to keep OKC surging. Memphis was in control early but faltered late, especially after Ja Morant exited with a hip injury. The Thunder's defensive intensity and bench production proved too much down the stretch as they extended their postseason dominance over the Grizzlies.

Detroit to win

Analysis:

Brandon Young’s introduction to the big leagues couldn’t have gone much worse—he was shelled for seven consecutive hits by a Cincinnati offense that has struggled for much of the season. His raw stuff lacks the polish and power typically required to succeed as a starter in today’s MLB, and scouts have long viewed him as more suited for bullpen work. The only reason he’s back with the Orioles is due to necessity, not performance, after an injury opened a spot in the rotation. NHL: LA Kings vs Edmonton - 1 Unit (-140) - 10:00pm ET

Edmonton to win

Analysis:

The Kings have been a force on home ice this season, but their dominance hasn’t translated to the road, where they’ve posted a lackluster 17-19-5 record. Now heading into Game 3, the question is whether the Oilers—who came back from a 2-0 deficit in last year’s playoffs—can avoid slipping into the same early hole again. Historically, teams facing a 2-0 deficit respond with urgency in their first home game of the series, and the Oilers are no exception when it comes to raising their level under pressure. All signs point to Calvin Pickard getting the start in goal Friday after Stuart Skinner was shelled in the first two matchups. But the real storyline has been special teams: the Kings have converted five times on the power play and have shut down all five of Edmonton’s opportunities. That’s a staggering edge… [Click here to get the Full write up on this bet]...
